Acqualagna Tartufi in Asia at Sial Shanghai: an interview with CEO Emanuela Bartolucci

The Italian truffle continues to strengthen its presence on international markets, and among the most prestigious showcases in the global agri-food sector is undoubtedly Sial Shanghai, one of the most important food and beverage trade fairs in Asia. Among the companies participating in the 2026 edition, which took place from May 18th to 20th, was Acqualagna Tartufi.

The Marche-based company’s strategic presence confirms the Asian market’s growing interest in truffles and, more generally, Made in Italy excellence. For the occasion, we were able to interview Emanuela Bartolucci, CEO of the Acqualagna company.

Emanuela Bartolucci, what was your experience at Sial Shanghai?
“It was an extremely positive and inspiring experience. Sial Shanghai is a key international platform for meeting buyers, distributors and industry players from across Asia. We have perceived an increasingly strong interest in the Italian truffle and in high-quality products linked to our gastronomic tradition”.

How important is the Asian market for Acqualagna Tartufi today?
“Asia is a booming market. In recent years, we have seen increasing attention, especially from consumers seeking premium, authentic products with a strong territorial identity. China, in particular, is showing an increasingly curious and open gastronomic culture towards symbolic ingredients of Italian cuisine”.

Which products attracted the most interest during the fair?
“Certainly our black and white truffle specialties, but also the most versatile products designed for international catering. Many operators appreciated the quality of the raw materials and the ability to combine tradition and innovation, a peculiar combination of Chinese culture”.

How much does participating in international events matter to an Italian company?
“Today it is fundamental. Events like Sial allow not only to consolidate commercial relations, but also to showcase the cultural value of Made in Italy. Behind truffles there is not only a gastronomic product, but a world made up of territory, experience, research and tradition”.

What are Acqualagna Tartufi’s future objectives in foreign markets?
“We want to continue investing in internationalization, strengthening our presence in strategic markets and creating new business opportunities. The goal is to bring more and more Italian truffles to the world’s tables while maintaining very high quality standards”.

Acqualagna Tartufi’s participation in Sial Shanghai thus confirms how the Italian truffle is increasingly an ambassador for national agri-food excellence, capable of speaking a universal language of quality, tradition, and innovation.
