Last 10 November, at the castle of Grinzane Cavour, the twenty-fifth edition of the world auction of truffle Alba, one of the most important events related to the fungal hypogeum. The event is a crossroads of countries and celebrities in the show where the lights of attention are all directed at the truffle.
As for several years, the white truffle most weight ends up in Hong Kong in the palates of some wealthy entrepreneur. But if the destination does not cause more heat, this splendid example of twin truffle of 905 grams, dug in the surroundings of Santo Stefano Roero, has managed to capture the attention of all those involved with its evaluation of 140 thousand euros.
A staggering figure that echoes what has always been the focus of the event, namely charity. During its twenty-five years, the event has raised 7,222,160 euros, of which 395,000 in the last edition. The money will be used to finance a number of projects. Specifically, the money raised in this edition will be destined for Every Child Is My Child Onlus, the Emiliano Mondonico Association and the North Kinangop Hospital in Kenya. Several projects will also be financed abroad, specifically Hong Kong will dedicate them to the needy children of the Mother’s Choice Institute, Singapore to the animals of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Vienna to the sustainability of Acker Österreich, Frankfurt will support the Paralympic youth sport and Bangkok, under the Royal Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, will donate the proceeds to the Border Patrol Police School Foundation.
